Lightshot Alternative for Windows: Screenshot Links Nobody Can Guess
Lightshot taught everyone a simple routine: press PrintScreen, draw around what matters, get a link. Shot2Net is just as fast — but nobody can guess the link to your screenshot, you can delete an upload at any time, and the editor has everything that's usually missing: numbered steps, blur, highlighter and video recording.
Why people look for a Lightshot replacement
Links that can be guessed. prnt.sc links are short — a few letters and digits. Security researchers have shown more than once that these addresses can be walked through one after another to find other people's screenshots: chats, documents, passwords left on screen. A screenshot you sent to one person is effectively open to anyone persistent enough.
No way to delete. If you uploaded a screenshot without an account, you can't delete it yourself — you can only ask support or report it with the button under the image. How long it is kept isn't stated anywhere.
A bare-bones editor. Arrow, box, text and highlighter are enough for a quick mark-up, but not for a five-step how-to.
What Shot2Net gives you
- Links nobody can guess. The address carries 16 random characters — about 80 bits. Brute-forcing that is impossible. Files sit in private storage, and viewing pages are hidden from search engines.
- One-click delete. Any uploaded screenshot can be deleted from History in the app or on your account page — together with the file in the cloud.
- PrintScreen stays yours. Shot2Net captures PrintScreen itself, even on Windows 11, where the key opens Snipping Tool by default. Alt + PrintScreen grabs the active window, Ctrl + PrintScreen the whole screen. Shortcuts can be changed.
- An editor for real how-tos. Arrow, line, rectangle, ellipse, highlighter, pencil, numbered steps, text, blur and pixelate to hide data, crop. Everything you draw can be moved and edited.
- Video recording. On the Pro plan — record a region or the full screen to MP4 and get a link that opens in any browser.
- Works offline. The cloud is optional: you can simply copy a screenshot or save it to a folder.
